Orca, OIL is the main reason. But, look at this : ratical.org It is not enough for oil to be easily available. It also has to be priced in dollars, and not in euros. And then of course, as Andy said, water. Israel can get its hands on Iraqi water. And the aqueducts will be guarded by American soldiers, protecting them at great risk to their lives (All for the sake of "freedom", of course).
