Hello Nat,

J6P need to wait for additional 5 years (age at 75)
to draw pension fund.

That's an incorrect conclusion.

Assuming the bill survives a Congressional vote (no guarantees of that) and further presuming that the President signs it into law, Joe Six Pack does not have to wait until age 75 to withdraw funds from his pension fund. The minimum age for withdrawal (as low as 59 1/2 in some plans) remains intact. What has changed is that Joe now has the option of waiting until as long as age 75 before s/he is forced to withdraw funds. In other words, Joe is being granted an extra 5 years in which he can accumulate additional funds within his pension plan, with the beneficial tax-deferred status. This part of the plan is one part that actually favors Joe, though most Joes won't be able to wait until age 75 because they would likely need the funds prior to age 75. But there are some people that have other forms of funding their retirement, and the longer that they can defer cashing in the pension funds (in theory anyway), the better off they'll be in the long run.

Nat,

Thanks for pointing out the acrimony on the House floor today. I am absolutely marvelling at how despicable the Repuglicans can be when they put their mind to it. I'm adding this to the rent-a-thug routine they pulled in Dade County, Florida when they used Enron's jet to fly in a pack of brown shirts (actually Izod golf shirts) to intimidate the clerks recounting the 2000 election. Then we have the unseemly episode where Tom DeLay's staff called the Homeland Security folks to chase down Texas Democrats who'd escaped to Ardmore, Oklahoma to avoid a quorum in the Texas lege, er, legislature where DeLay wants to cram down a despicable re-districting. And the damn recall in California.

The GHP, the Gross Hypocrisy Party, is looking more and more like an insane, anti-democratic and criminal operation all the time.

Not to mention all the crazy shenanigans that James Moore wrote up on Karl Rove in "Bush's Brain". What a creep this guy Rove is.
