It appears to me that some folks are "trying too hard" to dismiss the possibility of commonality. The constant references to pet peaves make me think so. The pet peeves are that someone, or group, wants to have absolute authority over interpreting everybody elses experience as right or wrong. That has nothing to do with my position and I certainly would be against such a thing as well. The other peeve seems to be that finding commonality on this would threaten some pet world views. Or, if we know about ideals, truisms, absolutes, is it because we have the nature to determine them or because absoluteness exists and we are in touch with it. It would certainly be a shame if any of us was able to grow and expand our understanding of existence through one of these discussions...or maybe not.
