Since Frank Dunn has been CEO I think that there has not been any warnings.

It is a good sign that NT has not warned as LU did. However, we've been burned before by 'late warnings' (and multiple warnings in the same quarter) by NT. That may be keeping the stock at its current level.
On the optimistic side, if NT can distances its performance from LUs, it may pick up more momentum. Personally, I'd prefer a longer upward stairstepping to the wild mo-swings of the hey day...

I was also wondering whether we are in a period in which Lucent warns and NT does very well. I was thinking that one of these 2 companies have to do poorly for the other to gain momentum; it happens in other industries for example Dell versus Compaq in the late 1990s.

Maybe it is happening, just like a few years ago during the bubble. Have not heard the GLW cc but the market reaction to its earnings seems like a good sign for NT.

We shall find out soon.
