I agree, 100%.

Welcome to the (Neocon) Darkside of the force... :0)

The Pew polls, in addition to showing the near-universal hatred of American Imperialism in the Islamic World, also shows a deep, widespread yearning for liberal democracy.

Hatred traditionally eminates from ignorance. To a large extent I believe they hate us because they are ignorant of us, or have something to gain by preserving the "old ways".

But the young folks, who make up the predominant portion of the region's population, do not want the status quo. This is the nature of young people. Eventually, as we shape our impression and interpretation of the world, we'll become progressives, reactionaries, moderates, or like myself, pragmatists.

2. the Islamists, who are the best organized political force in the country, take over.

Funded and financed by exactly whom? The Iranians can't (and wouldn't) subsidize Iraq. The Saudis probably wouldn't either. It's not in their self-interest to have Iraq pumping millions of barrels of cheaply produced oil, undercutting their sales.

Watch the photos of the children and Iraqi young people and how they interact with Americans. Capturing the hearts, and hopes, of the young has always been one of the best tools of spreading American ideals.

Because our ideals normally reflect what the majority of people want to be able to do. It's called freedom.
