Thank you, unclewest....My husband and I talked about this yesterday, and totally agree with you. Especially on the soldiers and a bit of a rest at a resort or other such place.

Some of the wimps in Congress who are doing all the naysaying certainly don't work 24/7, much less for 10 months in a row. (Jim MacDermott for instance.)

Why aren't the forces able to go after the people who are killing our soldiers...? Is it the Military, or the Congress or State or the Administration?

good post, thanks, uw

We released tens of thousands of trained warriors back to the battlefield and have to now fight them to the death on terms more favorable to them.
(I hope Israel learns from that.)

Trust me, Arik Sharon is well ahead of the US on that point. Any releases will be done for political necessity, with full awareness of the risks.

Yep.. that's what I found rather odd.. Just let them go home, rather than rounding them up and screening them before release.

Another problem is our Army is so small we cannot relieve front-line troops...even for a short break. The men who have been on the line for 10 months would have soaring morale if they could get a week off in a resort somewhere. Preferably with wives.

Well the wives would obviously be difficult to arrange, but there shouldn't be any reason that can't pull one battalion at a time off the line to take a week of R&R on a cruise liner in the gulf..
