To ignore such human rights abuses, and pretend the Iraqi people were better off under Saddam's tyranny is morally reprehensible.

They see it, but do not allow that Republicans can ever do something positive for human rights. Therefore they charge them with hypocrisy if they do. Only the morally pure who never fight for their own self interest can do really positive things for human rights. Of course the morally pure rarely get into a position to be able to do anything, good or bad, so it's a cheap stance.

I have to agree that the Democrats simply do not sound like a serious party right now.

what the anti-Bush crowd fails to see

You are being too nice to them Mike. They see it. They don't care. "They want us to lose, they want our opponents to triumph, and they want Bush out of the White House."

Did you bother to read the very informative posts X took the time to post? Put on your critical thinking hat, note the numbers killed in the Iraq/Iran wars and try to guess where a large proportion of these mass graves might have come from.

In your analysis please factor in the Kurds we influenced to rebel against Saddam after the first Gulf war. (These are the "gassed-his-own-people" we hear so much about.) They were slaughtered by Saddam when we failed to support them after we prodded them to rise up. The account for mass graves as well.

I am not saying Saddam is a good guy. The world improves when leaders like these are removed. I'm just asking for a little logic, critical thinking. Don't just jump at something which seems to serve as a fourth tier reason for your blind support of things. Think it through. Question. Rethink. Improve

Read these posts. It takes time but it will be worth it.
