Ok, try the other dialup numbers on Monday.

I just did a trace to both of your isps. ccp.com was fine, but the trace to accessonline.net timed out. If their tech support is open today, I'd suggest calling them and telling them that a trace to them timed out and ask them what the problem is.

Also, please post a message to me first thing on Monday and remind me to trace your isps again.

Do you know how to find your IP Address? If you do, PM me your IP address on Monday. Do not post it publicly.

Please post the tech support numbers for both your isps. I may want to give them a call.

You are welcome for the help. I've been through a lot with dialup problems so I am curious what is going on here.

Rick

I have done a couple more traces to accessonline.net and they are still timing out. This indicates problems at the isp.

I still have no idea what is causing you to be able to connect only three hours a day, but accessonline.net looks like a definite problem. One thing I'd suggest at this point is calling Earthlink and investigate opening an account with them. I had very good experiences with them in the past and their tech support in particular is very very good. So far ccp.com looks okay but I will know more on Monday if your problems return.

I doubt the problem you are having is in your computer or W98. When you lose your connection, can you still make calls on the line which you use for connecting to the internet? If yes, the next time you become unable to connect, call the phone company and ask them to test your line for noise. It's possible something is happening in your area that starts at 9:00 on weekdays and causes so much noise on your line that a connection is prevented.
