I agree completely. Todays OS's love ram but I'm not surprised GC sees very little difference in normal operations. I believe GC is running XP which manages resources much better than previous operating systems so he shouldn't run into many problems with 256mb rdram. His machine will like the additional shot of ram though. He would probably benefit more with some XP tweaks such as turning off unused services and some of XP's eye candy. There are some real memory hogs out there that he may also be using.

What kind of programs are you running that require that much ram? I'm not enough of a power user to have ever seen anything like that.
