HI Jay,

and typhoon approaching

I see that it's no longer Tropical Storm Koni, but Typhoon Koni, albeit a minimal typhoon. The maps I saw (drawn from images taken from the GOES-9) would seem to indicate that the storm is taking dead aim on Hong Kong (if I read the maps right; sometimes these maps skew the bigger Chinese islands and mis-identify them entirely). But for now, it would appear that Koni will be visiting your neighborhood within the next 48 to 72 hours. Batten down the hatches, mate...

Jay, it's great to see what you are achieving. The gap between the positive things people do and the sad situation of others is huge.

<to make myself feel good, or at least better than you,>

Well, it was interesting to see your list and I can see you would feel good. I wonder whether you feel better than I do. I'm feeling pretty good myself. Maybe there's a theory of feel-good relativity equation into which we could plug our numbers and see who feels better than whom. Who is traveling nearer the speed of light.

I got a good turbo-charge today so you'd have to feel pretty good to be better than me.

I suspect what matters is what happens in our own world and what we think of it ourselves and not whether it's as good as somebody else's or meets their sense of values. For example, I'm pretty sure that $ill Gates is way up on me in absolute altruistic terms, but I wouldn't be sure that he feels much better about himself. Maybe he thinks he could have done so much better and has been a bit of a duffer compared with what he could have done.
