And if you have kids, there is a great story that tangentially involves the statue of liberty (but is mostly about pirates)- It's called "The 13th Floor". I've read it to second graders, and I've seen 6th and 7th graders reading it. Heck, I enjoy it, and I've read it out loud at least 10 times.
