It could just be that he's a more colorful guy than anyone else around here.
Or it could be that you've recently "clicked" on his peoplemark link, as the default mode is to change the color of recently accessed links.

Thread mates,

When I download the Mudge thread today "unclewest" is printed in purple and all of the other Mudge names are in blue.

Is this happening on anybody else's computer? And if it is, what does it mean?

It means that he's like the Purple Teletubbie of the thread.
