We interrupt this broadcast to announce that on KVOS channel 12 Bellingham there is at this time the Twilight Zone episode in which the helpful aliens have a book called 'To Serve Man' .... about which we talked here some time ago [i think it was here?] [book turns out to be a cookbook] And in re your later post on Ann Coulter - one wag said he was going to write a rebuttal called 'Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Balanced View of the US Right Wing' ..... lol ..... ah, what an amusing species we have eh .... and tastey, some say Canadians can do other things anyway, while working to get something going in the way of a functioning UN ..... we're in Afghanistan but in pitifully small fashion, it's going to top out at two thousands men - cbc.ca We need more of a military .... what we have is of high quality it is said, there is no longer the too-many-chiefs not-enough-injuns problem of a few years ago, as attrition reduced the number of generals in Ottawa .... but we pay less than four hundreds loonies apiece for annual defense budget, that is ridiculously low ..... there is a fear that if we were to do better, our forces would be arrogated by Washington, this is one major reason for keeping them minimal ...... but i think this wrong-headed, it is in itself an expression of defeat, backwards thinking, i am confident that by getting at least part-way back to the top-notch military we have had in the past, we will be shoring up our independence, far more than endangering it ..... any time Washington has a reasonable proposal, we're in, that goes without saying, and really in a functioning system of cooperation these ideas will occur to us all quite similarly, and simultaneously, as problems arise There is a lot in Africa ... our old f.m. Axworthy and his Liu Institute, for all their 'vapid happy thoughts' as frankw puts it, they make rational arguments as well ..... maybe for Liberia, we could put out a call for US nationals to volunteer in a special regiment here, and get a licencing deal on the stars and stripes et cetera, because the liberians are crying out for Made In USA, and we'll have to fake it real close
