That's BS... pure and simple... obviously coming from a simple-minded analysis. US national security is ONLY at stake should we be willing to stand up and defend S. Korea in the event of an unprovoked N. Korean attack against them. And even then, our losses will only be suffered by our military personnel engaged in combat. No US city will ever be at major risk of N. Korean attack. Personally, I believe the US should withdraw all US forces from S. Korea, leaving only pre-positioned stores and equipment to support a rapid reinforcement effort.. The S. Korean army is more than sufficient to fend off a N. Korean attack, given the normal 3-1 advantage any army should possess when in the attack against prepared defenses. And removing US forces would negate any credible argument on his part that the US was planning offensive operations against him. Thus, if he had decided he wanted to go to war, negotiations would be useless anyway, except to potentially give him a pretext for doing so by claiming the US was being intransigent in those talks. So where's the threat? Kim giving nukes away? What can we do.. If he's intent on provoking a war with the US, nothing is going to stop him.. (2) The only country of much value in the talks would be China, and they show precious little interest in being involved -- and who can blame them. Value? Exclude S. Korea, which borders the North, and exclude them from any negotiations that could very well impact their very existence? Ludicrous.... Sheer stupidity... and shameful treatment of one of our more important allies in the region. North Korea is not contemplating building nukes -- they are assembling their arsenal as we speak. Sounds like you need to stock up on your supply of "Depends".. In fact, every time I read your greatly exaggerated posts, I have this image some child peeing his pants everytime he sees his own shadow... So he builds nukes... Big deal.. We are merely forced to enact a waiver in the non-proliferation pact and provide nukes to S. Korea so they can defend themselves. It's no different than the state of existence the US and USSR lived through for 50 years, and which eventually bankrupted the Soviet economy.. Do you think that Kim Jong Il hasn't realized that he possesses limited economic resources to carry out a full-fledged nuclear arms race? Do you think his fellow leaders will stand for having their lives of privilege sacrificed to pay for this reckless program that will achieve nothing more further isolation of his country? Don't bother to respond GST... You've shown yourself to be a dedicated American unilateralist and imperialist, advocating that the US should dictate foriegn policy to other nations in the region without their participation. And frankly, I'm getting sick of your BS. Hawk
