Including all the religious fanatics from Washington and Tehran, all the nationalists who define the Others as subhuman, all the arrogant elitists who think God gave them global dominion, all the pissed-off humiliated folk who have zero stake in the status quo. They are all in there with you and me, and they are all holding nuclear grenades in their sweaty palms. That's the future. Going to New Zealand doesn't help. Maybe if you could emigrate to Mars or Alpha Centauri, but that isn't an option, yet. And, unfortunately, all the other large animals with specialized diets, they die for our sins too, if we create a Global Extinction Event. The small omnivore scavengers will inherit the earth. Maybe rats, along with the rockroaches. No rhinos or elephants.
