Effects of Volcanoes on Ozone Depletion:

Just as the aerosol formation from volcanic eruptions may lead to global cooling, it may also contribute to the ozone depletion process. When the volcanic clouds release sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, these droplets of sulfuric acid form aerosols. When chlorine compounds from broken down chlorofluorocarbons are present in the stratosphere, the aerosols serve to convert them into more active forms that may cause more rapid ozone depletion. Therefore, volcanoes may also have this devastating effect on the state of global affairs.
