I'm not even saying the picture is all that distorted in terms of showing what is happening there. It does focus on the negative but that is what news usually does. What is distorted IMO is a lot of the analysis.

To a limited extent, I might agree with you. Its human nature to see the worse in a situation and the extremes in Iraq are quite graphic.

However, I believe the problems in Iraq are extremely complicated and multi faceted. I also believe the media is highlighting the lack of control that is evident. I think the new administrator, Bremer, actually is pretty effective but I think things are so bad, he can't get his arms around all the problems.

I don't think the military planned well for the peace.....maybe that's an oxymoron.....the military planning for the peace. In any case, I think that's the current dilemma and I can't tell how quickly it can be resolved.
