I agree- the words actually read better than they are sung. Her voice was very distracting. The 60s and early seventies had some wonderful poetic songwriters with enormous social consciences: Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger. Of course we also had the Monkees and Elvis. I am not very in touch with today's music, but I don't see it being particularly aware of the world outside itself. Am I wrong?
Oh- and just to bring the French into it- there was that awful whisper-voiced Claudine Longet who married Andy Williams and then got away with murder.
