Nadine, for sure there are Syrian, Palestinian, and other types fighting for $$ and cause(like in radical Islam followers as in Afghanistan)or fighting for no other reason than it is what they do and do well, it is an occupation in the ME. but I suspect the preponderance of guerilla activity is coming from loyalist republican guard faithfuls, hell bent on restoring Saddam to his former glory so that they might resume their role of being the bully police in charge of torture, rape, robbery and general atrocity.
