there are a number of cia agents in Israel so, I assume, that if any of US agents would be discovered it would be fine with you if Israel would execute them?

Actually, I'm opposed to the death penalty period. And if I remember correctly, Israel doesn't have the death penalty either.

I do see some distinctions that your post merges. Citizenship and agent.....A citizen of one country, who is an agent of another country is a traitor. A citizen of a country that is spying on another country is a spy. Both are subject to the laws of the country in which the act was committed. IMO being a traitor is a more serious offense than being a spy. And I think that the laws of most countries reflect that distinction.

If you're talking about a CIA agent in Israel, that's a spy. If you're talking about a US agent in Israel...I can't tell for certain whether you're talking about a US citizen spying in Israel or an Israeli that is spying on Israel for the US [that also could be referred to as an agent of the US - US agent]. I would expect the later would get a more severe punishment.....Unless the two countries in question were at war, then I would expect the two infractions to result in similar punishment. It's not unusual for the US to detect a foreign agent and just give them the boot, a ticket back home and a letter of protest.
