Thanks for your reply. It was helpful. On this subject I remember buying stock in LUKOIL after receiving a promotion indicating that not only was it the largest oil company in the world but that it had more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia. I am not very good at fundamental analysis, but I looked at the chart and bought. It turned out to be a good trade for me as it doubled when I sold. It went up more after I sold and then I lost track of the stock.

Do you think their claims are true? Have you factored this or the potential for additional discovery into your analysis? For that matter do you believe there is much potential for significant additional discoveries?

The reason I ask is that I recently saw an article which suggested (with regard to natural resources in general and not specific to oil) that many undeveloped countries have opened themselves to western technology and that many of these countries have not been well explored and therefore we should have significant further discoveries of natural resources. I thought that the article made sense, but do not have enough knowledge to evaluate whether the claims are correct.
