I LOVED the Woman and the Ape- but it wasn't like Smilla- however it was fantastic. I sent it to a friend, or I would give it to you. I liked The History of Danish Dreams- but it isn't like Smilla either. I own, but have not yet read, Tales of the Night- so I don't know if that is like Smilla. But Hoeg seems to be a very innovative writer, constantly finding new topics. The basic beauty of the writing doesn't change- but the themes sure seem to.
