RealTick ISN'T handed-out. You still have to pay for it. At least I did.

The API is, and always has, been handed-out, at no cost. At one time, it was handed out with no registration required.

Later, they started requiring a simple name and e-mail registration (give your name, e-mail address, and create a user ID and password), so that they could maintain a list of developers to send out a periodic e-mail newsletter.

Currently, you can register using your TAL user ID/password/domain.

It's always been an open API program.

Are you a software developer, Count? Have you written software for RealTick, or considered such? Why would you have knowledge of how Townsend has handled API licensing in the past?

BTW, all this is easily verifiable by going back in the RealTick III thread here. You will find a number of individuals here on SI who have written their own software for RealTick - even some self-taught amateurs who've done it in Visual Basic.
