Ameritrade routs the transactions directly to the Canaccord market maker. The spreads are a bit wider than if one purchased the shares in $C on a Canadian exchange.

I've been pretty happy using Ameritrade.

<Penntrade allows you to trade directly on the Canadian exchanges.>

I think I average a 2 cent penalty with T. Rowe Price

added to their commissions it makes the purchase of low priced stocks prohibitive

the higher priced stocks are sort of semi-reasonable

My broker goes up directly to the Canadian exchanges
and dickers with them on the phone

tremendous advantage
