Even before the identity of the bodies was confirmed, celebratory gunfire erupted across Baghdad tonight as Iraqis celebrated the news, the night sky illuminated with tracer fire.

"I don't think it is possible, but if it is true, they deserved whatever happened to them," said Omar Salam, 22, eating his dinner at a roadside cafe with gunfire erupting all around him.

Most Iraqis will breath a sigh of relief that Mr. Hussein's two most likely successors have been eliminated. It would leave Mr. Hussein as the main target of the continuing manhunt.

Runes and Cary-

>>I believe that there are Jews who's hatred of Palestinians runs deep enough that they would go to extreme lengths to further that hate.<<

Jews, being people, have among our midsts geniuses and shitheads. I find Cary's position indefensible. Of course there are Jewish assholes. We have all met a sample of them.

However, I am completely on Cary's side when it comes to confronting anti-semitism. My experience on the web is that I have yet to see some decent Christian condemn anti-semitic comments on the web. However, do not place either you, Runes, or Zonder, in the anti-semitic camp. The majority of Israelis don't support Sharon's policies, and they're hardly anti-semitic.

However, I, like Cary, wonder about motives when there is a vastly different standard for Israel as opposed to the Palestinians. To condemn Israeli military policies and not condemning the suicidal bombings of civilians does make me wonder about motives.

RE: "I believe that there are Jews who's hatred of Palestinians runs deep enough that they would go to extreme lengths to further that hate."

How did you arrive at this belief? Did you meet these Jews? Can you point out incidents which provide examples of "extreme lengths"? Are you putting yourself in the place of Jews who have lost family and friends to Palestinian terrorist attacks?

Can you fill in the blanks with any other name pairs? "I believe that there are <blank> who's hatred of <blank> runs deep enough that they would go to extreme lengths to further that hate."
