I have to agree with you. Haven't seen so much emphasis on targeting short positions since the height of the last mania.

Meantime, and looking at the big picture, so far, Q2 results and guidance have been about as expected... weak and projecting more of the same. What one can't help but notice is that the really ugly numbers are ignored while the occasional solid result gets trumpeted.

No sign yet in these results/guidance of the much vaunted second half "rebound". Also no sign yet of this reality sinking in.

Short positions still in place at this end. On the whole, not much change in value. As usual, a bit "early", but encouraged by the general lacklustre tone of the current market.

It will be interesting to watch this morning"s activities given yesterday's events in Iraq. A chance to guage bullish strength and determination.
