The New York city area had ten inches of rain in May, the wettest on record. The entire northeast for this summer is averaging about 50 percent more rainfall than normal, with cooler average temperatures. Reservoirs are at full capacity for the first time in years. We're talking about an area with a population of some 50 million people and more than 20 percent of total energy use for heating, air conditioning, and manufacturing.
