There iw no theory of justice without retribution. Sure there is. The one that works best is keeping those prone to cause trouble checked, either through isolation, monitoring, or sanctions. Turning everything into a Hatfield/McCoy feud with the state playing one side just doubles the amount of harm from each event. Retribution demonstrates our seriousness .. It also demonstrates that the "good guys" have no more constructive ideas than the "bad guys". Coercion becomes the only example that the third parties learn from. TP
