They then come back as "on the scene" experts to tell us it's going a lot better than you'd think after listening to the candid remarks of the troops and seeing the injuries and deaths that are continuing to mount among our troops and cooperative Iraqis. The irony is that ole Rummy didn't even leave the airport area. Don't know what Wolfowitz did.....probably stayed in Kuwait and watched Iraq from over the border. <g> Didn't we see this a few decades ago. Politicians travel to the "war zone" and then tell us how well it's going, how much the population supports us, how high the morale of the troops is and that the tide is turning and success is just around the corner. How can a few days of a scripted tour lead to that level of expertise? It's not the choir you need to talk to if you want to find out if the devil has plans, and there's no way that these newly created "recently on the scene" experts saw anyone but the tamest, most grateful and most cooperative soldiers and Iraqis. Hey, its enough for the right........they believe everything they're told. Many still believe there are WMD, al Qaeda links, and Saddam purchased uranium in Niger. Who needs the truth when you have fantasy to play with. It's good that they got the Hussein brothers but unless substantial segments of the Iraqi population turn against the guerrillas, it won't mean spit. Let's not declare the beginning of victory in the peace until we have some real indications that it's happening. This administration has been terribly wrong in evaluating the Iraqi response to our invasion and occupation from the beginning. I don't see them getting smart overnight, "on the scene," scripted, junkets or not. I agree!
