Blaming the government is seen as blaming the US.

It is a basic part of any totalitarian ideology, to identify the government with the nation. And to identify the government's ideology, with the basic culture of the nation. Once that is done, then opposition to the government is treason.

People who say "dissent is unpatriotic" don't believe in democracy.
