Blair insisted on the UN, and Kerry and Powell were also pushing the UN route. Popular opinion backed up the UN route. Bushies went through the motions but only in a brusque arrogant "our way or the highway" mode which they knew (and probably hoped) would turn off the UN just enough to queer a Un coalition. Our troops paid the price and so did the tax-payers. Now oil is being pumped and three is no word the tax-payers will receive any reimbursements, much less the families of the troops killed and wounded.
