Pretty much. I know those majored in Math in Chinese universities have a very easy time here in the US for their Marster degree study.

The problem in the US is that too many elementary/junior high school math/science teachers are not qualified. The daughter of a friend of mine is in 6th grade now, and her math teacher is actually a literature major, knows very little about math. And in China, at least in cities, the math teachers in elementary school have to be graduated from Normal Colleges and majored in math. And also seems to me that many people in the US still do not realize elementary school education is THE most important, even more important than middle school.

BTW, you can go to news.google.com
and search by key word, and then you get the latest related news all over the world. I got those news on China by using key word "china".
