It's funny how conservatives start carping about human rights in Iraq and women's rights in Afghanistan only when they intended to invade for other reasons.

Liberals and feminists had been championing the cause of Afghani women and against the Taliban for years before 9-11. Conservatives didn't care.

And it was Dick Cheney lobbying to lift Iraqi sanctions before he was VP and then again mentioning it in his energy report as VP. He seemed more interested in the price of oil than mass graves and human rights before 9-11.

And it's ludicrous to compare a pre 9-11 Clinton to post 9-11 Bush.

Bush didn't do jack before 9-11. He knew Al Qaeda was behind the Cole, he got briefings on how dangerous and active they were, that they were planning something spectacular, and the Clinton administration's NSC told his NSC that Al Qaeda and terrorism were the most serious threat to America.

But the Bush administration took terrorism less seriously than Clinton had.

Bush was so concerned with America's security that he spent a month (after only 7 months in office) on vacation playing with his dog and clearing brush on his ranch.

Meanwhile the terrorists did not take a vacation.

Krauthammer ought to write about that.
