I already gave the reasons that we should not have capital punishment.

The only reason you gave for it is that it's justice.

Killing for killing is not justice. It serves no one.

And if "justice" is meted out just once incorrectly, and it has been shown to have been wrongly applied 24 times since reinstatement of the death penalty, then how do we achieve justice for this? Do we kill all the people in favor of capital punishment as retribution?

Don't forget that 100 people have also been released from death row, as their convictions were over turned. Good thing we don't have the "old west string em up" attitude, because if we did then that would be another 100 wrongly executed.

My reasons for not using the death penalty are reasoned, and compassionate.

Your reason for the death penalty are for revenge and convenience.

The death penalty has not been shown to be a deterrant to murder. People that commit murder are not rational. They cannot see the consequences.

Note that the murder rate is more closely correlated to economic conditions in this country. When the economy is robust the murder rate has gone down. When the economy slumps the murder rate goes up.

It's the economy stupid!
