Good questions. But I don't have any answers.
If you're sitting on a company you have at least some faith in for the next 1-2 years, but decide to take profits, then what do you do next? I have no idea.
I'm skeptical of the tech/telco rally going much farther than it already has, but what to do? Just don't know. I think the funds will gravitate toward quality here, but I'm not convinced that the risk/reward, especially the reward, is worth it.
If history is any guide, and sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't, but after the big post-war Iraq rally in 1991, the market went on a 2-year snooze. Very few trading opportunities, long or short. It was just real quiet.
A good trader can make good money in a volatile market. But no one makes any money when it just flatlines.
Let's hope that doesn't happen.

PB

<<So, what are most folks doing right now? As we head towards historically the worst 3 month period for markets, I am wondering if folks are going to sell, take profits and sit on the sidelines for awhile, or are folks buying trying to get on the train...or are folks holding.>>>
I can say a few words, might find one or two out of 20 useful....
1. Buying continues, folks not going to settle for 1/2% interest, there is still maybe 4 trillion left to come back into equities. .The markets have trended up overnight as indicated by the futures from close to next mornings opening
2. Thursday is about the worst day of the week, so yesterday did not mean much. Fridays ar so-so, but can move up or down unpredictably, as some get out for the weekend.
3. I generally play this as flat market, regardless of historic summer problems. Considered getting out about now as stock prices drift down between earnings periods. But these earnings have been good, so will not be selling LT holdings
4. I am much more diversified than in the past, dont recommend that for those who have lots of assets, its just because I am not inclined to sit on something for months as stock runn flat or down. Trying to make mopney every day. Turning into a trader , which is certainly not the way many should run their lives.
I will continue this later as I have to get back to work and check stocks and days activities
Reviewed morning reports, and find that spf, cum, trow, stc, gap kyph are worth looking at for good earnings. Ususlly can find one that is worth a bet.
