is there any hope that hizbollah will ever become more moderate in its stated mission to destroy israel

In my view, until Hizbollah changes its charter, its intention to drive Israel into the sea has to be presumed.

Hersh said he'd interviewed Nasrallah and that Nasrallah said he'd do "nothing" if an accommodation was reached between Israel and Palestinians. I'd take this with an enormous dose of NaCl for several reasons. Islamic fundamentalists believe that they are religiously empowered to lie to infidels. Secondly, Hersh is a Jew. Nasrallah undoubtedly despises him for that reason alone--why not lead him down the primrose path?

Until Hizbollah renounces the provisions of its charter, I'm cynical as respects any change in its stated objectives.
