Between 1976 and 1994, NY and Texas both had 40,000 homicides. Since NY enacted the DP sentence in 1995, it has had only 8,500 homicides, while Texas has had 11,000.

Besides the obvious conclusion that the Death sentence is a significant deterrent, what strikes me is that only 289 murderers have been executed for almost 100,000 murders! All in Texas.

You're right, the system is a joke. We need to significantly broaden it.
