Ray,

Actually, the full quote from the Quinnipiac site was, the poll was selected a "winner" by the New York Post for the most accurate prediction on the Schumer-D'Amato Senate race in 1998...

I do pay attention to the origin of the various polls, though not quite as closely at this point in the election cycle. I can't quite shake the vision that the interns take over the polling responsibilities in the summer preceding a national election. Haul in a couple of kegs and hit the phones.

Not many people are focused on the Democratic race, which probably accounts for Lieberman's performance. However, I do think that the Hillary Clinton number is significant.

The independent polls generally provide greater depth. I have found Zogby to be fairly reliable at the national level. It would be interesting to have access to the internal DNC and RNC poll results. I have a bookmark on another computer that may interest you. It tracks the historical results for the GWB Approve-Disapprove question for 12 or 15 different polls. I'll post it later if you promise not to misuse it.
