You obviously don't agree with the policy implications beneath the Hersh piece.

If what Hersh says is true, the policy implications were IMO a potential disaster. The choice was made to act prudently, not a bad choice. This is the aspect of Hersh's work that's dishonest and biased. Just as there is not a single word about Iran toning down its support of terrorism, as you suggested in your original post, there's not a word in Hersh's piece about the huge potential downside to dealing with Syrian intelligence.
