The B/S you have related will do nothing to alleviate that type of problem imho.
Yes unfortunately the government meddles too much. My neighbourhood is quite diverse and middle class. You know when you meet someone on a personal level and see them daily it's harder to maintain preconceptions or easier to break them as the case may be... No law says you have to like everyone but until you meet them how do you know ? What really got me was the fact that folks don't just get these little cuts and stabs... I really gotta wonder who would really have been offended but at any rate if Michelangelo's David was here I wonder if we'd need a g-string..

Aren't you in Brittain ? My wife's family on the mom's side hails from Henfield near Brighton. We went for a wedding and had quite an adventure. Rented a car and did the bed and breakfast routine..

regards
Kastel

A lot of what gets called racism isn't really, the differences are based more on cultural and/or religious and/or linguistic perceptions, and these splits may be harder to overcome than the nice simple issue of skin colour ..... the onus is on both sides of each to promote tolerance, and trying to control behaviour and language through PC Diktat is exactly the wrong way, can't possibly work ..... things like Christmas are part of the culture, i'm a card-carrying agnostic and likely to stay that way, but don't like these PC twits trying to impose culture on the folks, that's a thing that evolves naturally, just leave it alone

Terms like mestizo, mejicano, yankee, canuck, all started out as derogatory, and those at whom they were aimed in derision took the labels for themselves, made them their own, made them positive affirmations of their own style .... same could and must be done with the term nigger .... takes a sense of humour to do this, but you don't get far in this life without one .... friend of mine was born an 'injun' here, enjoys it immensely, he has a fine time poking fun at the PC attempts at imposing labels like 'first nations', prefers indian, because it is after all a great joke on a bunch of lost europeans who thought they'd found Cipangu or something .... well actually he will specify the name of his tribe, which can take ten minutes for a novice to learn to pronounce, a process quite humourous in itself .... but if you know the guy, he never ever talks about any of this, it's so irrelevant, talks mostly about work and family etc
