Ten,

I agree with that post. Bush is nothing if not methodical. I believe when he sent David Kay over, he said, "I don't want innuendo and anecdotal results; I want solid evidence, and I want it when you can present a conclusive case".

I think Bush saw the weekly leaks -- "We found this, we found that" turning out to be nothing, as a serious problem and he stopped it. When Kay has the goods, he is going to come back and present them and a lot of liberals are going to look like damned fools.

We've had senators come back from Iraq and say, in effect, that Kay is developing some real evidence. We've had Kay himself discuss the extensive documentation that has been discovered, then a group of senators were briefed by him last week after which they reported major progress in the hunt for WMD.

This is all looking like something that is going to blow up in the Dems' faces. It doesn't matter, they already look like fools -- but it will be the icing on the cake for Carl Rove.

Ted, here is an editorial from someone (a Bush-hater, no less) who also thinks the Democrats are walking into a political trap:

tallahassee.com;

First, I question the author's perspective......he starts out by actually being elated that the Hussein bros are dead. The only people it should really matter to is the Iraqis. It benefits us little....only slightly more than if Saddam is caught. The current fight is not about the Husseins va Bush; its about Arabs against Westerners.

Still, the real question for those who prefer their Bush presidencies in one-term doses is not whether today's attacks are fair, but whether they are smart.

I think that's BS. You take your shot when you can. Up til now, Bush has been the teflon man. That ended finally........it makes sense to go for the jugular. However, I would not dwell here indefinitely......Bush's presidential performance has some fertile ground for 'digging' now that the teflon is gone.

My instinct is "no." At some point - three months or six months or 12 months from now - indisputable proof of Saddam's weapons will emerge. When that happens, what will shrill, wrongheaded liberals who weirdly sound as if they're staking everything on Saddam Hussein's honesty seem to be but ... a bunch of shrill, wrongheaded liberals!

I am of the belief that without the facilities to produce the WMD, there are no WMD. Purchases on the black market would have been prohibitive.

My own judgment, however, is that the boomerang risk when Saddam's weapons are eventually found is far, far greater than any credibility hit Bush will take. My point to the left: Why risk this boomerang when there are better, truer ways to bash Bush?

Why do you still believe WMD will be found.......and where?
