Well I sympathize on the Outlook. I still prefer my old fashioned Sidekick program. We use Express on the family machine and it does a good job for their simpler requirements. I get so many emails though between alerts, customers, personal, knowledgebase entries (programmer) I really need good filtering. Clippy LOL.

it's very easy to turn the grammar checker off in Word. just go to Tools > Options > Spelling & Grammar, then uncheck "Grammar check as you type". personally, i do all my writing in the SI text box since it's such a sophisticated machine.

what the hell is "Clippy"--that stupid agent? i right-clicked on that to hide him for good.
