The liberals love to quote Eisenhower, who had some idiot on his speechwriting staff who saddled him with some of the most stupid quotes of our era (ex., the "military-industrial complex" drivel, which he recited like Charlie McCarthy on Edgar Bergen's knee).

The real Ike? After his election in 1952, a back channel message was sent to North Korea that the new administration wanted the Korean war out of the way ASAP, and was willing to use nuclear weapons to that end. Ike's WWII reputation-deserved or otherwise-did the rest, and the Stalinists made peace.

Kind of like the Iranian hostage release on the eve of Reagan's inauguration. GOOD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN THE PEOPLE TURN TO PRO-AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES...

GAWD, you must be an old fart! :-)

I was too young to vote for him. Not to young to volunteer to work in the campaign, though.
