He will never do it, IMO. Just not his nature. Plus, now that the election is scheduled, it would really throw everything into the courts.

The problem with the special election is that anyone can enter the race and a real fringe candidate theoretically could win. What Davis is doing now is preparing to run against that fear and by demonizing "right wingers" who got the recall going.
I am a right coaster but I would have to think seriously about voting against removal if it seemed that there was a fair chance of a nutcase winning in a 20 candidate race. The back end of the recall process in CA was not carefully thought out. Mike
