"The big difference is that Left anti- Americanism more often shows up in a respectable veneer........ "

Oh please.
The left that you consider Anti- American simply dislikes certain things about America and wants to change them. That is not anti- American, that is desiring America to do better. I've seen your comments on what is Anti-American- and it is those types of comments which I am talking about. This is America, and opinions for radical change in America ARE American. Our country attracts radicals- and the only Anti- American comments (imo of course, and we are simply arguing about my opinion) are the ones which seek to destroy America. Thinking America should be different is not Anti-American. Our own founding fathers suggest to us that if we do not like America, we should rebuild it (and some of them suggest we do that violently). I think it is hard to find truly anti-American opinions. Those who would aid our enemies DIRECTLY by spying for them- they are anti-Ameican- but those who may disagree on who are enemies are, are not anti-American. Racists (ideological or otherwise) are hardly anti-American. We have a deeply ingrained tradition of racism in this country. It is something many people want to change, but it is hardly anti -American- it has been with us since before the founding, and was originally enshrined in our constitution. That's like saying sexism is anti-American. It's not something beneficial (imo) but it is hardly anti-Ameircan. You play too fast and loose with your terms and your arguments.
