Gibney’s summary of the Philippine/American festivities at the turn of the last century is neither the worst nor the best I’ve read. I do not agree with any of his conclusions. Any analogy drawn between American intervention in the Philippines in 1899-1910 and American intervention in Iraq in 2003 is way beyond strained.

I’d say why, but I really don’t want to get started. I tend to ramble on subjects with Philippine connections, and I’ve rambled enough today.
