No question that Israel will be an incidental beneficiary

One reason that the whole plan for war is difficult for the administration to explain is that there are different interests pushing conquest for different reasons. For some of these people the benifits to Israel are the primary motivation, for others it is not. Oil, arms sales, revenge, anglophilia, zionism, more oil, and prestige are all motivators. No goal was good enough or strong enough to lead the country to war by itself, but in a case of single issue advocacy gone mad all of the interests banded together around a mistaken hunch that they could find chemical or biological weapons to act as a rationale.

The war was fought because of a perception in the administration that this would prevent terrorism.
You are in effect calling the administration stupid, because all of the advice and expertise in the CIA, FBI, and other three initial outfits said that this war would make terrorism worse.
