A lot of them seem to be idiots because they keep whining about independence and bleating about their dead or gaoled relatives and friends. Like those Alabama negroes kept wanting to run their own lives instead of being slaves and Mandela didn't appreciate the beauty of the Boer. It's amazing how ungrateful the wretches can be, I agree. You know, Indians were living a much better life under the British, but for some strange reason, they kicked them out anyway. China too was doing much better under the British, but went all weird and tried to run their own menagerie [which resulted in umpty million dead and impoverished]. Look at the hash China has made of Hong Kong, which under the great and wise British, became one of the most wealthy places. Only an idiot would deny that having the British back in charge of China would give the majority of Chinese a much better life. We could teach them English and how to be civilized. We could teach them about English law and human and property rights. Since my grandfather left China way back in 1923, it has been a mess in China. Our daughter's boyfriend's father had to swim for it to Hong Kong to escape to New Zealand [about 1970]. Now that China has invited we Anglos back in to provide technology, run the corporate world, and to provide a market and cash flow, the majority are doing much better than they did under Mao. Only an idiot would deny this. QUALCOMM is providing mobile communications and cyberspace, and many companies are allowing China to buy and produce their amazing products. China is now starting to look a lot better thanks to we Westerners. Only an idiot would deny this. We have even allowed China to join the World Trade Organization [thanks to Mike Moore, a Kiwi mate of mine from the good old days in the 1960s, who was boss of the WTO during the transition] and to have a go at hosting the Olympic Games. I hope Chinese appreciate what we are doing for them. We are writing some excellent history for them and it's to their credit that they have finally figured out that writing their own history isn't all that much fun. They can whine like a fleet of Korean CDMA licensees but only an idiot would deny these truths. Only an idiot, Mqurice PS: It would be surprising if Tibetans, like those in China, aren't living a much better life than before they were invaded by China. A lot of time has gone by and we Westerners have provided a great deal of opportunities for improvement. China has greatly improved as a result and it would be surprising if some of those results didn't flow over the border to Tibet. I dare say they are driving around in Lexus SUVs, enjoying fast mobile cyberspace and holidays on the Gold Coast. BTW, there's no need to be too grateful to we Westerners for writing some good history for China, because it's a two way street. China has exported plenty of stuff I've appreciated. It's a joint venture.
