Imagine that you believe that there is this huge plot, headed by the US, the Jews, the Christians, etc., instigated by Satan himself, to discredit and destroy Islam. Imagine further that you actually believe that it is all the work of Satan. Now, given this, how well will you take any kind of criticism of Islam? This is one of the biggest problems in the Muslim world: the total inability to deal with any kind of criticism of Islam or its practices, no matter how kindly or sincerely it was intended. The legitimacy of any criticism is denied; either the criticizer, Muslim or non-Muslim, is part of the plot to destroy Islam, and/or working for Satan, the "Jewish/Zionist conspiracy," or whatever nefarious organization dedicated to destroying Islam, and/or condemned as heretical/apostate. Whatever is said is "lies" and "slander" and "hate" regardless of its veracity. I wish I could find some way of disagreeing with her but I've had too many futile argument convincing Muslims that there is no Zionist conspiracy (it wouldn't speculative to believe that the vast majority of Muslims adhered to the belief that Jewish people caused September 11) or that OBL is an enemy of humanity (rather than it's saviour). It's a sort of mass pyschological mechanism that compounds the failures of the past into a highly visible and concentrated population. Perhaps there is no sure way of alleviating this condition other than the current strategy systematically isolating the most virulent of the billion or so Muslims (most of whom wil never have anything to do with Judaism or Westerners) to ensure a containment of this mass hysteria.
