Ray,

<<<Here's where you and I will disagree.>>>

I don't think we disagree at all. I don't question the fact the Bush Cartel is in bed with the oil companies and that their actions are for the benefit of the oil companies. My contention is the policy is stupid and wasteful. As close as I can tell, you and I see eye to eye in that respect.

There was a time when Saddam Hussein was our fair haired boy, we put him in power in the first place, and he was more than willing to cooperate. American oil companies were in Iraq and making lots of money at the time. It was after nearly a decade of playing dirty tricks on Iraq that Saddam Hussein got so mad he kicked all the American oil companies out on their butts. Generally speaking, the chaos in the Middle East can be chalked up to stupid policy decisions by elected officials, on behalf of paranoid and greedy oil company CEOs.

The truly insane part is the Constitution carefully outlines the President's responsibility, and the biggest part of his job description is diplomacy and developing good foreign relations. And to add injury to insult, Congress granted absolute power to a President who had already displayed a total lack of competence in that respect.
